Acer Aspire One - Netbook
Jul 12th, 2008 by Alan Chai

Today i managed to get my hand on the latest Acer, Aspire One Netbook. Its really different from the normal notebook. The keyboard are great, OS are easy to use, Twin SD card slots, solid performance and is highly portable. Acer Aspire one is fantastic for anyone who wants a small, cheap machine on which to type and surf the Web.

Acer Aspire One runs a customized Linux operating system called Linpus Linux Lite, which is basically a stripped-down version of Fedora. The user experience is divided into four areas, where each one has a preview of icons that represent an application or Web link.

The 8.9-inch, 1,024×600-pixel display is a good one and the 0.3 megapixel webcam above the screen comes in handy for anyone who wants to video chat.

The “Work” area is made of OpenOffice 2.3, a PDF reader, and a calculator. You have an assortment of games in the “Fun” section, while the “File” section lets you manage all your music, image, and video files. Because everything is intuitively laid out, it’s easy to find your way around this interface.

Performance is promising because it runs an Intel Atom processor, which is rated at 1.6GHz.

There are three USB ports in total, two on the right, one on the left. There’s also a D-Sub video output port, Ethernet port and mic and headphone ports. There are two SD card readers, one on either side. The idea is that one SD reader which recognises MMC, xD and Memory Stick Pro cards, the other is intended for semi-permanent storage that you simply insert an SDHC card in and leave it there.

Acer Aspire One design with a glossy white lid on the outside (also available in blue), and a glossy black bezel on the inside which frames the 8.9 inch.

The Acer Aspire One feels quick and handy in everyday use.

For those who is interested on the Acer Aspire One, be prepare because it gonna launch soon. Will update you all when the Acer Aspire One is Officially launch here in Brunei. Hope all of you can really try it and feel it. ACER, EMPOWERING PEOPLE.
